Complete Release History

  • The column list on the Compare Columns wizard is now sorted alphabetically.

Announcing Version 1.2.0 (2014-09-09)

  • Added a new command to Compare Columns. The results of the comparison between two Reference Rows cells is placed in the first source row within that Reference Row.
  • XML exports from VP-SCE can now be directly imported into Reference Rows. Use File | Import XML or simply drag the XML file into Reference Rows.
  • Fixed a problem which caused a previously manually-selected cell to take priority over a Summarize rule. User selections are now preserved if you choose a rule type other than one that summarizes values.
  • If you edit a cell, the selection rules will be re-run for that cell.

New and Fixed in Version 1.1.1 (2014-03-23)

  • Renamed exports to be consistent with the main Smart Charts products.

  • The Create Subtable from Columns command now lets you pick from all non-empty columns, not just the visible columns.
  • The "Summarize All Values" rule shows all values in a group (rather than selecting a single representative value). This is particularly powerful with the Create Subtable from Columns feature.

Fixed in Version 1.0.9 (2013-09-24)

  • The new Excel export was trying to export all records along with the chart, and wouldn't let you change this setting. This has been fixed to not export records.

New in Version 1.0.8 (2013-09-22)

  • Added a new export to Excel.

New and Fixed in Version 1.0.7 (2013-04-25)

  • Attribution now appears at the bottom of cells in user-added columns.
  • Fixed a bug with the Summarize All Values rule which would cause the export to be mis-aligned after empty cells.

New and Fixed in Version 1.0.6 (2013-02-26)

  • You can now add your own columns to Reference Rows charts.
  • A new command lets you create a subtable from two or more columns. This is useful together with the new Summarize All Values rule.
  • Adjusted the appearance of exported subtables so that the text is always top-aligned.

New and Fixed in Version 1.0.5 (2013-02-01)

  • Added a new rule for "Least content" which picks the shortest value (such as drug name), ignoring empty cells.
  • Earliest and Latest Date rules now compare more date formats.

  • The Create Reference Rows wizard guides you through the process of reviewing your Database Ranking, creating Column Rules, and applying and saving Rules Templates.
  • The Database Ranking determines how data is selected for a reference row. You can change the database ranking and (with the Properties button) define the database label in your exported report.

Green check marks show which cells were selected by the database ranking and column rules to appear in the exported report. You can also override the rules; manually selected cells are indicated by a purple checkmark.
  • Sorting in Reference Rows will sort the report based on the selected value for each reference row.
  • You can save the review chart as a .chrr file and re-open it in Reference Rows with all of your rules, edits, and selections saved. If you open the .chrr file in Version 3.4 (releases dated 12/21/2011 or later), the rows will be in the sorted order but no Reference Rows features will be available or saved.
  • You can view reference rows and distribute reports via one the export formats -- HTML, Word, or the XML Smart Data Exchange Format. Export options are to include all, none, or the first record. You can specify if links to records on the publisher website are included.
  • Rules Templates allow you to save your database ranking and column rules so that you can quickly apply them to a new Reference Rows report. Rules templates are saved as .DRUG (drug pipeline), .TRIAL (clinical trials) or .PATS (patents) files in the “rules” directory in your roaming profile.
